Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (chilled)
  • 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar (or less to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 ounces Irish whiskey
  • 1 cup hot, freshly brewed, strong black coffee
  • Granulated sugar (to taste)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the cream, confectioners' sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  2. Warm a coffee cup or mug by rinsing it with hot water and drying it.
  3. Pour 1 1/2 ounces of whiskey into the cup or mug.
  4. Add 1 cup of hot coffee and sugar to taste to the cup or mug, then stir.
  5. Top with a dollop of the whipped cream.
