Ingredients

  • 6 oz pale ale
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 2 tbsp packed light brown sugar
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2-inch piece peeled ginger
  • 2 allspice berries
  • 1 whole clove
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. In a large nonreactive pot, combine the ale, cider, brown sugar, lemon zest, lemon juice, ginger, allspice, cloves, and cinnamon stick over low heat.
  2. Heat the mixture for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fragrant and thoroughly heated through.
  3. Strain the mixture, discarding the solids.
  4. Divide the warm spiced cider among individual mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick if desired.
