Smoky Rosemary Whiskey Twist
A smoky and aromatic twist on the classic Old Fashioned, infused with the scent of rosemary and complemented by the richness of rye whiskey.
Ingredients
- 1 sugar cube
- 2 dashes Angostura or orange bitters
- 1 teaspoon filtered water
- 2 ounces rye whiskey or bourbon
- 2 rosemary sprigs
- Orange peel for garnish
- Ice
Instructions
- In an old fashioned or rocks glass, muddle the sugar cube, bitters, and water until the sugar is dissolved.
- Fill the glass halfway with ice or add 1 large ice cube.
- Pour in the whiskey or bourbon and gently stir with a cocktail spoon to combine.
- Twist the orange peel over the glass and place it in the cocktail.
- Light one rosemary sprig on fire and hold it a few inches over the cocktail, allowing the smoke to infuse.
- Cover the cocktail and the rosemary with the can of a shaker for about 30 seconds to capture the smoke.
- Remove the shaker to release a cloud of smoke, then gently clap the remaining rosemary sprig between your hands and nestle it into the cocktail.
