Ingredients

  • 1 lime, cut into four pieces, juice of 1 lime, and lime wedge, for garnish
  • 1 tbsp. light or dark brown sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 4 basil leaves
  • 2 sprigs mint, plus additional for garnish
  • 1.50 oz. Bulleit Bourbon

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the lime pieces, lime juice, brown sugar, salt, basil, and mint vigorously to release the aromatics and juice.
  2. Add Bulleit Bourbon and enough ice to fill the shaker.
  3. Shake vigorously until well-chilled.
  4. Strain the mixture into a julep glass filled with crushed ice, using a Hawthorne strainer to retain some of the herbs and citrus pulp.
  5. Garnish with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint.
