Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (separated: 2 tablespoons and 1 tablespoon)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 teaspoon packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon bourbon

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, caramelize 1 tablespoon of sugar with water over medium heat until light brown.
  2. Add heavy cream and whole milk to the caramelized sugar mixture, then stir to combine.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat egg yolk, brown sugar, and vanilla until thick.
  4. Gradually mix in the milk and sugar mixture with the beaten egg yolks, then stir in the bourbon.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat egg white and 2 tablespoons of sugar until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold the fluffy egg whites into the eggnog mixture until well combined.
