Ingredients
- 1 egg, separated
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp Bourbon
- 1 1/2 tbsp dark rum
- 1 tbsp brandy
- Pinch of mixed spice
- To serve: finely grated nutmeg
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until pale and thick.
- Add the milk and 1/2 cup of the cream, then whisk to combine.
- Stir in the Bourbon, rum, brandy, and mixed spice.
- Refrigerate the mixture for 5 hours to overnight to allow the flavors to develop.
- In an electric mixer, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the egg whites into the milk mixture.
- In the same mixer, whisk the remaining cream until soft peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the egg white and milk mixture.
- Serve the eggnog in glasses and sprinkle with freshly grated nutmeg.
