- 1 cup whole milk

- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Pinch of ground cinnamon for topping (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together the whole milk, ground nutmeg, and vanilla over low heat.
- Add the cinnamon stick to the mixture.
- Bring the mixture to a low boil, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks with the granulated sugar until the yolks become pale in color.
- Add a spoonful of the hot milk mixture to the egg yolks and sugar, mixing well.
