Ingredients

  • 2 ounces bourbon whiskey
  • 1 1/2 ounces fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh squeezed orange juice or Cointreau
  • 2 teaspoons agave nectar
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • Optional Garnish: 1 tablespoon ultrafine sugar for glass rim

Instructions

  1. Place ultrafine sugar on a small plate.
  2. Rub the rim of a chilled martini glass with a lemon wedge and dip the wet rim into the sugar, tapping the glass to remove any excess sugar.
  3. Use a zester to peel off 1 long strip from the lemon peel as a garnish.
  4. Squeeze juice from the lemon and fresh orange juice, or use Cointreau instead.
  5. Add ice to a cocktail shaker, then pour in the bourbon, lemon juice, orange juice (or Cointreau), and agave nectar.
  6. Cover the shaker and shake vigorously.
  7. Strain the cocktail into the chilled martini glass and garnish with a lemon spiral. Enjoy!
