Book Club Bliss Sangria
This sweet-tart wine punch, known as Book Club Sangria, was created by members of the Junior League of Houston book club in the 1970s. It's a refreshing and fruity cocktail that's perfect for enjoying with friends while discussing your favorite reads. With a blend of red wine, brandy, citrus juices, and a hint of ginger ale, this Sangria is sure to liven up any book club gathering.
Book Club Bliss Sangria
A fruity and refreshing Sangria with red wine, brandy, citrus juices, and a hint of ginger ale - perfect for book club gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 oz fruity red wine, such as pinot noir
- 1/2 oz brandy
- 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup ginger ale
- 1/4 cup fresh pineapple chunks
- 2 thin slices each of orange, lemon, and lime
- 1/4 fresh peach, pitted and sliced
Instructions
- In a small pot, bring sugar and 1/2 cup of water to a boil and cook until the sugar dissolves; then remove from heat.
- Transfer the sugar mixture to a pitcher and let it cool to room temperature.
- Add the red wine, brandy, and citrus juices to the pitcher, then cover and refrigerate.
- Just before serving, stir in the ginger ale, pineapple, citrus slices, and peaches.
- Pour the Sangria into a glass filled with ice, garnish with some of the fruit, and serve immediately.
